My name is Charlie Petrou, a graduate in Product Design Engineering, from The University of Derby.
As a Product Design Engineering student, I am excited about the prospect of taking an idea from product conception, all the way to the production stage. Hand sketching and painting are methods that I feel have minimal limits when it comes to expressing my thinking. Although I favour these methods, I am also adept at communicating my ideas through computer aided design and using other electronic drawing programs, which I have become familiar with throughout my course. I have had lots of opportunities to practice my practical model making skills at university, and now feel it is my most valued asset when it comes to the design process. When developing my ideas, I ensure I utilise my entire skill set, so that my concepts can be produced in a variety of styles to best suit the project.
As recognition for my academic achievements in product design engineering during my time at The University of Derby, I received a University Dean's award and was also chosen to present some of my best work at the New Designers event.
